| DESIGN NAME: Diversity Collection PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewellery Collection INSPIRATION: We live in a world that each day is more interlaced as one. With internet, social medias and all communications makes us closer. We need to prove that with respect of all races, beliefs, and cultures standing together diversity makes us stronger. Oxidized Argentium silver, sterling silver and 22K bimetal with different textures represents how diversity makes a strong design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This jewellery collection is about Diversity. It is made of different metals, each one treated differently with textures and color but all together make a strong piece. Diversity is about what makes us different makes us stronger together. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The strength of this collection is the simplicity of each design. It is intended to be used in combination of variety of pieces or one single piece at a time. Each piece is strong enough to make a statement by itself and be a conversational piece of art. At the same time the uniqueness of each design and their variations make them look great together and gives a look of simplicity and not a heavy one. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: All pieces of the collection were made by hand at Maria Blondet's workshop from June to August 2017. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Diversity is a jewellery collection made entirely by hand. The combination of metals: argentium silver 935, sterling silver, and 22K gold were hammered, filed and textured to give the metals the desired shape to fit nicely in the body. Then all the pieces are soldered together to become one. The depth and layers of each piece was taken in consideration to be aesthetically and functional. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Rings: 22mm x 16mm x 20mm Bracelets: 70mm x 30mm x 60mm TAGS: jewellery, ring, bracelet, diversity, together, black, gold, silver RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To create a collection of pieces that each one is very different but are interlaced together she began to cut as many possible simple shapes to play and fold them as she desired. Some changes were made to shapes to make the design work and be functional around the body. The dimensions of the rings and the fact that are adjustable was also very important so they can fit to a wide range of people. The same with the length of the chain in the necklaces, were she interlaced rings in the chain to have different lengths options. The ideas is that the person can adjust the pieces to their bodies and feel great with them. CHALLENGE: One of the challenges creating this collection was to be able to create a wide collection of jewellery in which all the pieces work together but at the same time they are very different from each other. Each piece is a unique design but work great with each other. Diversity gives this collection its strengths.
