| DESIGN NAME: 300 Years PRIMARY FUNCTION: Book INSPIRATION: ‘Quinta do Vallado. 300 Years in the heart of the Douro.’ whose design, layout and production are by Omdesign, marks the three centuries of the history of Quinta do Vallado, one of the oldest and most famous estates in the Douro Valley. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The history of this centuries-old estate, which is known all over the world for the quality of its wines, is told in 224 pages. This easy-to-read book also contains emblematic pictures illustrating the past and the present and pointing the way to the future, carefully chosen to demonstrate all the aspects of this evolution of Quinta do Vallado. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A careful selection of images were chosen to illustrate the book and portray the history and some stories, all this reflecting the values and details that mirror the essence of this emblematic estate in the Douro. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project was started in February 2016 in Porto (Portugal) and finished in October. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This book has a hardcover with a sand varnish to awake the sensory side. A family crest is also printed in a low and high relief, adding a special finishing to this book. With the materials and textures carefully selected, nobody will remain indifferent when leafing through this book. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 290 mm x Depth 25 mm x Height 280 mm TAGS: Omdesign, Design, Book, Quinta do Vallado, Douro, wine producer RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Quinta do Vallado is located in Douro, which is, since 2001, the oldest demarcated region in the world and has been a UNESCO World Heritage site. Considering this, we have made a research in order to create a distinctive book with a minimalist design that reinforced the main values of this estate. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to create a bilingual book, able to keep and perpetuate the 300 years of Quinta do Vallado, with an appealing design and extremely distinctive finishes.
