| DESIGN NAME: The Aesthetics of Lohas Residence PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: The design is poured in with natural, fresh elements and energy from rich colors. The internal energy is able to connect with indoor space and the external environment. Nature is transported through the flood of light and the embellishment of the green while multiple colors energize the space. After taking on the role of a mother, the designer incorporates an ideal environment for parenting and child development into the design concept. The designer redefines industrial style by giving free rein to creativity based on her own observation of domestic life. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The specialties of designer in color and art integrate the functionality necessary in daily life and the preferred industrial style. The layered effect is built in the space through the patchwork of various materials that are compatible with one and another. Considering the living experience of the child, industrial style the is blended with warm tones, indoor plants, materials, and bright colors. It alleviates the cold, hard, and craggy characteristics of industrial interior to a fashion city residence of new factory chic for a healthy and sustainable life of the entire family. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The expression of the space is stressed through the extension of the industrial style lexicon and a harmonious medley of diverse media. A visual layered effect and variation are also established. To maximize the floor efficiency, side cabinets and laminate panels are set up in fractional spaces, for example, inside the columns, corners, etc., in addition to conventional storage spaces. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The partial interior walls are painted with a faux concrete finish. The feature wall in each indoor space, behind the sofa, master headboard, for example, uses special paint for coating to channel the energy from assorted colors. The main beam and the structural columns are covered by galvanized steel of which the metal material enhances the visual and spatial perception. The walls of the residential mechanical room use oriented strand boards for photo display to enrich the focal point. The adoption of the joined dyed hardwood yields a home full of natural and unique artistic tastes. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The total floor area of the ground floor, basement, and balcony is about 70 pings. The living area uses a large number of windows and an open-plan layout to flood in natural light. It brightens and broadens the spaces for daily home activities. The materials and colors that hold interest for visual perception are employed to cover the existing beams and columns. The facade design is to enclose some present facilities, such as the residential mechanical room, the distribution transformer of the apartment, etc. The alternation between virtuality and reality produces a home style aesthetic. TAGS: industrial style, LOFT style, residence, lohas living, colorful, residential house RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Industrial style is characterized by rough edges, cold, hard metal castings, and neutral colors with a cool feeling. Instead of being limited by it, this design is mixed with natural materials of various patterns and vibrant colors. This design also involves play area of children and tools such as a whiteboard for scribbling. It not only creates a unique taste and a distinctive style, but a relaxing, cozy living environment that takes care of the needs is also retained. A LOHAS residence that is warm and family-oriented in the midst of hustle and bustle of a metropolitan city is achieved. CHALLENGE: The exposed ceiling as an indispensable feature of industrial style along with the structural beams and columns, residential mechanical room, distribution transformer, etc., all call for modification and beautification. The reconstruction of the front and back balcony and how to maximize and direct sunlight to each area are also a great challenge. Moreover, a lot of effort went into in material application and color selection and pairing to build a residence of industrial style with temperature.
