| DESIGN NAME: Priya PRIMARY FUNCTION: Security Cam INSPIRATION: There are plenty of home security devices on the market: cameras, smoke and gas detectors, baby monitors, thermostats, but each one has its own technology, its own function, and its own separate cost. The existing systems are only designed to detect and monitor, and occasionally to inform, but they are not capable of interpreting data and alerting the user. For this reason, we have given Priya the A.I. necessary to improve and to adapt itself to any particular demands in the house. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Priya is a multi-sensing device that combines the abilities of the leading Smart Home devices to bring a new dimension to the internal home security. The main components of Priya are a high-resolution camera, a sensitive microphone, and a precise air quality sensor. Therefore Priya is the first device of its kind that can see, hear and smell while having such a reduced size. Thanks to a powerful artificial intelligence engine this device is able to know exactly what happens in your home while you are not there. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Priya is equipped with a single multi-function button that allows you to activate the artificial intelligence. Moreover, this product can be positioned anywhere in the room thanks to its versatile magnetic supports. All the features offered by Priya are easily managed via a simple and intuitive mobile app, that quickly sends notifications about the events detected to let the user interact with their family members or to intervene directly in case of emergency. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main material used in Priya is polycarbonate which ensures resistance and lightness to the product. Together with the white body that surrounds it, and which hides the guides for the induction charging of the 2600 mAh battery, Priya allows to be rotated and positioned on vertical and horizontal surfaces in a simple and intuitive way, carrying out its work for 10 consecutive hours with just one charge. The main body has been designed to be traversed by air so as to disperse the heat produced internally faster. The camera offers image quality at 1080p with an opening angle of 130 degrees, keeping the focus fixed and an LCD distortion correction. The image maintains the highest quality even at night thanks to an IR cut-off filter that allows a night vision up to 12 meters and 940nm enhanced IR light. The infrared LEDs are hidden in the front mask of the product by an element made of Perspex 9001. The gas and air sensors allow a complete analysis of Volatile Organic Compounds, Nitrogen Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide and Methane. Furthermore, Priya can detect the humidity and temperature of an area up to 200sqm. The magnetic charging base is complete with a USB type C connector and a programmable tag according to the room in which the device will be used. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 90 mm x Depth 84 mm x Height 35 mm TAGS: security cam, air quality, baby monitor, smart home, family care, pet, elderly RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Priya gives a solution to the problem of injuries at home, which are about eighty per cent of the overall injuries of a person, twice of the road injuries, and ten times of the workplace injuries. Priya wants to increase the safety of the family, by taking care of each member. We have carried out many interviews with parents to understand what would be the features that they would want integrated in a security cam for the protection of their families. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to design a compact shape that could house all the sensors necessary for an in-depth analysis and that would allow total freedom of movement, to adapt itself to any domestic context. Therefore this device exploits the features of the sphere section for the main body, and for the shell that surrounds it.
