| DESIGN NAME: Painier PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chain Saws for Gasoline Engines INSPIRATION: Generally speaking, gasoline engine chain saws is professional power tool, used by professional workers. However, with the development of social life, and the increasing of labor costs, it’s a trend that more and more daily home repairing will be done by ourselves. For instance, wall painting, yard trimming and etc. Also it’s regarded as interest experience. So the professional tool now need to make some transformations. It need to be safer, easier to use, also more interesting. In this trend, we want to help our client to redefine the Chain Saws dapping the inherent thinking ways. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: PAINIER professional gasoline engine chain saws break the inherent form language and visual image of similar products. We deal the starting device, tensioning device, air filter and other important components with an innovative design, make the Function and Form have an ingenious fusion. In addition, PAINIER's superb internal combustion engine technology can reduce fuel consumption, improve carbon deposition, reduce emissions and pollution, obtain the EU’s VCA emission certificate. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The product operation flow of "Painier Chain Saw" is just like the traditional chain saw products. But the "Painier Chain Saw" has better human-machine scale design and more clearer visual approach which can help the the ordinary users control it more quickly and safely. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2016 in China and finished in May 2017 in China, and was exhibited in China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) in May 2017. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main body of the "Painier Chain Saw" is made of high strength plastic material, some metal spare parts of the body and the guide plate is using titanium magnesium aluminium alloy material. The chain is made by iron and steel. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Painier Chain Saw, the body of the product Width 380.86mm x Depth 180.20mm x Height 277.72mm. The Saw, Width 524.25mm x Depth 7mm x Height 78.64mm. TAGS: Chain Saw, Product Identity, Product Form DNA, Ergonomics, Power and Hand Tools RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In this project, our design team took a deep design research of chain chaw products market to fully define the product development and positioning. Base on the design research, we effectively extract the product family form language of the enterprise to create a new form design features and style through idea sketching , alias 3d modelling, prototype making,mould testing as well as optimising the user experience. CHALLENGE: The creative as well as the most challenging part of the project is to create a new set of chain saws product form design visual recognition as the PI(Product Identity) of the enterprise. In addition to this, balance the design effect, processing technology, ergonomics and other important factors is also the challenge of the project.
