| DESIGN NAME: Unu PRIMARY FUNCTION: Shelf and Wardrobe System INSPIRATION: Simple well defined geometric shapes, circles angles and straight lines interacting with each other. The fascination of simple lo-tech metalwork with no fuzz to it - as simple as folding a piece of paper. Simple but strong graphic design, signposting and monospaced letters. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Unu is a modular shelf and wardrobe system, no visible screws or brackets when mounted. The shelves are two lengths, three heights and two depths, further the shelves can be mounted upside down extending the height options three times. Shelves can be mixed and matched to sculpture a wall of shelves, not only up-down and sideways direction but also in-out from the wall, and the wardrobe items can also be integrated. The wall bracket allows cabling from lamps, stereo, tv and more to be hidden behind the shelves. Several add-on items are available such as book supports, hangers, mirrors and more. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Unu System is modular and since both the Shelf and the Wardrobe systems are mounted on the same wall bracket, all items can be mixed and matched to suit your changing applications. The special wall bracket also allows cabling from lamps, stereo, tv and more to be hidden behind the shelves. The shelves are designed in two lengths, three heights and two depths, further more the shelves can be mounted upside down which extends the height options three times. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Traditional metal bending, spinning, milling and more. Steel and aluminum powder coated, chromed and metalized. The UNU System is made from solid 4mm aluminum with a powder coated finish in either black or white. CHALLENGE: Research has mainly been for facts like measures for small books, medium and large books, ring binders, stereo, tv-sets and so on. Research has been done to clarify the need for thickness of the aluminum and bending angles, as well as for the load capacity.
