| DESIGN NAME: The Ava PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tunic Dress INSPIRATION: Bianca was inspired by the opportunity of creating a variety of looks with just a few items like scarves, as well as showing off scarf prints in a new way. This made her realise how versatile and beautiful these silk accessories are. She wanted to create a dress that would go with these beautiful pieces of wearable art. With the use of design registered neckline loops, which discretely allow personalisation by picking through a complementary scarf, making styling options limitless. She wanted to create a dress that would be a staple in anyone's wardrobe and could be worn in multiple ways. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Ava tunic-dress, features innovative neckline loops which can be used to style scarves in a variety of ways. This ¾ sleeve heavyweight Modal wardrobe staple is made using the best quality fabric and can be worn in many different ways. The neckline loops allows all scarves to be styled easily, to create perfect harmony between a capsule piece and unique accessories. The dress also has one deep V and one high V so it can be worn back to front, depending on body shape or occasion. Lastly the tunic dress has side splits so that it can be worn over trousers and allows for a comfortable fit. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Our dresses are designed with discreet neckline loops that allows for wearing as they are, or paired with our scarves. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Ava tunic consists of Modal jersey which was chosen as the fabric is hard wearing, easy to care for, soft and holds the dye well in order to keep the dark black colour after washing. The yarn used is manufactured from Beech trees in Austria and then knitted and dyed in Leicestershire in Great Britain. Finally the dress is manufactured in London. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Available on line in Small, Medium and Large Length about S 102 cm, M 103 cm, L 103 cm Made from heavyweight (400 gsm) Modal 95 percent, 5 percent Elastin. Made from Beech trees in Austria, knitted in Leicester; soft, crease resistant and keeps the dye really well, it’ll stay black without the colour washing out. Easy to care for, cool wash, the fabric goes quite hard, but can then be put on a hanger and left to dry (it dries quickly) without it needing to be ironed. Designed and Made in Britain. CHALLENGE: I wanted to create an innovative high quality luxury brand manufactured in the UK, to find the right manufacturers was difficult, as I set my standards high in order to give customers the best possible products and see my designs as an investment. NAME: Bianca Elgar PROFILE: The idea for the designs came when I had to pack light and keep my own clothing to a minimum. I decided on her favourite black basics, and a variety of bright scarves to dress them up with. Inspired by the opportunity of creating a variety of looks with just a few items, as well as showing off scarf prints in a new way, I decided to start her own fashion brand once back in the UK. |
