| DESIGN NAME: Reflected PRIMARY FUNCTION: Family Mausoleum INSPIRATION: The reason that this design is placed in sustainability category is because of the foundational design problem that this project deals with: the environmental concerns within the Burial activities of the deceased. The clear line this mini-family mausoleum draws between itself and public ossuary or private burial ground offers a significant social and cultural change in Korea. The design considers both space/environment and the cultural concerns of the local culture. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Specifically designed for Korean burial culture, the Reflected is a small family mausoleum designed in reaction to their environmental and cultural concerns. In a country with small land size, a burial space has always a large concern. Yet, their traditional culture vastly prefers private and family space for their deceased. Through Reflected, traditional burial land size can now accept 4, 6, or 8 cremated urns to be placed together and kept in security and privacy.
