| DESIGN NAME: Everything ORGO PRIMARY FUNCTION: Case creating counter space INSPIRATION: The inspiration came from traveling many nights for work and finding that there was not enough space in most hotels, apartments and homes to hold toiletries and makeup. Everyday essentials were falling on the floor or in the sink which ruined many personal items. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: ORGO is the only organizational case in the world that creates its own counter space. Unsnap and unzip to reveal three removable insert to keep all items organized and in plain view. Expand ORGO to reveal the expansion module that creates a rigid counter space that fits over a pedestal sink or small sink area. After use the ORGO can be neatly stored in any location and any orientation with all products remaining in their original location. Does not require designated shelf space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 1. Unsnap 2. Hold the unit with two hands, one hand on each side, and pull outward to expand and expose the work space 2. Unzip both compartments 3. Fold back the two flaps to view and use the storage compartments. (inserts can be removed or rearranged to store larger items) 4. Place case over a bathroom sink, small counter top, lap or any area to create additional work space. This case is a "Smart Solution for Small Spaces." it creates usable space where it previously did not exist. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The invention came to life in April 2013 and and was introduced in January 2016 |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A number of prototypes were designed to enhance the complex task of creating usable work space that previously did not exist, thus creating additional counter space. The counter space is the main feature of the product and was designed to slide in and out within the case to make the product more compact to achieve everyday and travel needs. No need to pack a carry on case just grab it and go! The durable, lightweight, polyester material allows the ORGO flexibility to fit in a small carry on or back pack. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 381 mm x 273mm x 71.12mm Packaged in a sleeve and then placed in a poly bag Made of 100% polyester; 600D(outer) 150D (inner) YKK zippers Gusseted pockets and elastic bands Water Resistant Expands from 381mm to 914mm of usable storage space. TAGS: Lifestyle Organizational Case, Travel Case, Cosmetic Case, Toiletry Case, ORGO, ORGO Lite, Everything ORGO, Travel Accessory RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We created a sample of our idea; We consulted with an intellectual property attorney firm to research domestic and international to determine patentability. Based on that favorable research we applied for a patent. We further refined our sample and had prototypes made for testing. Sample run was manufactured and provided to a focus group for evaluation. The focus group was compromised of people from all disciplines, lifestyles and demographic groups. Further refinements and revisions were made upon the data collection from the group results. The focus group then field tested the product for design, durability and performance within a three month period. No further modifications were required and production began. CHALLENGE: Creating a lightweight functional case that provided rigidity to an expansion module that spans a sink and utilizes the full cubic space.
