| DESIGN NAME: Construction and Destruction PRIMARY FUNCTION: Collection INSPIRATION: I do not know who created me. My birth is representing the beginning of death. People greeted my birth with a warm cheer, then they’ve forgotten. When I hid my body under the ruins, I learned to see things in the dark Heartbeat, blood, and bone’s decay. I started trying to escape. Thorns, glass, and wood pierced my skin. People began to despise my ugly look, and me too. Everything I've ever experienced just satisfied my desire of the curiosity about the world. My desire created my birth. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The mini collection tells a story about the deconstruction and reorganization. Inspired by the city ruins, the entire collection started from an asymmetric silhouette which is the first coat, and then through the damage, morph, and wearing in different ways, it surfaced some unique shapes. The collection constructed in only black colour, and through the using of different materials fabrics, it showed the unpredictable concept of the theme. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Project Design Started in Apr. 2015 in San Francisco and the garments finished in Jan 2016. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Main Fabrics: silk, leather, rayon. Machine sewing. Hand sewing. Pattern making. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Collection is based on 3D Draping. There are some unique cutting ideas. All the garments in the mini collection draped from the first coat. TAGS: Fashion, Garments, Ready-to-Wear, Luxury, Casual Style, comfortable to wear RESEARCH ABSTRACT: online research, city ruins photos, finding the muse from the film Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, google images, pinterest.com CHALLENGE: The collection was from the draping, the most different part is how to transer all the unique ideas to the feasible garments. The collection construced in only black color, and combine the all different kinds of fabrics took such a long time to do the experiment. The correct Sewing Techniques is the most important part. NAME: VYRI YANG PROFILE: My design is based on the young designer price point not only because I’m confident in my concept, but also because the garments are meticulously constructed. My designs start from a conceptual idea to build the narrative of a girl who is mysterious and confident yet soft and refined. She is strong but not rough, feminine but not girly. Those who understand her, and to an extension me, are important. Those who don’t are irrelevant. My girl has the courage to say goodbye to the past and not be pretentious, sentimental, or fragile. Through her inner emotion we can understand the new definition of beauty. |
