| DESIGN NAME: China Says PRIMARY FUNCTION: Book INSPIRATION: Jingdezhen is a culture city which has more than two thousand years ceramic history. The book "China Says" talks about Jingdezhen's cultural, environmental, social in my eyes. Since 2007, I work in Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute as a teacher. I have deep emotional for the city. In this book, there are many contents from my discovered and accumulated in these years, I want showing Jingdezhen in my eyes to audience from graphic design, photography, illustration, typographic. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Through co-operative interaction with the staff members in the university workshops (woodwork, metalwork, screen-printing, book-binding, photography), he was able to successfully realise his book, “China says”. The book is content-wise extremely intricately designed, very well constructed and, in its contemporary form and appearance, clearly surpasses other publications relating to the topic. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Through co-operative interaction with the staff members in the university workshops (woodwork, metalwork, screen-printing, book-binding, photography), he was able to successfully realise his book, “China says”. The book is content-wise extremely intricately designed, very well constructed and, in its contemporary form and appearance, clearly surpasses other publications relating to the topic. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The use of wood in the process of screen printing on the cover, in the wood. This can be a very good display of this book. In addition, it uses the sewing process, showing a "CHINA", meaning China and ceramics. It is not only a book, but also a work of art. CHALLENGE: It is difficult to make use of wood technology, and the use of screen printing process on the wood for printing, this is very difficult. NAME: College of Technology and Art, Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute PROFILE: Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute is the only higher education institution which has “ceramic” in its name and multidisciplinary undergraduate courses. It is one of first 94 higher education institutions enrolling international students who can enjoy Chinese government scholarship for a master degree and a bachelor degree. The predecessor of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute is China Ceramic Industry School founded in 1910; in 1947, Jiangxi Ceramic Industry Junior College was set up, which was one of five junior colleges in Jiangxi province; in 1958, with the general undergraduate organizational system, Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute was established, which was affiliated to the former ministry of light industry; in 1984, it was approved to award master's degrees, and in 2013, it was approved to award doctor’s degrees.
