| DESIGN NAME: Ducky PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sanitaryware Set INSPIRATION: The team is inspired by the yellow rubber duck which make easier bath for children with help of their parents. So with the form of duck animal and its cuteness, they created children bathroom. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It has been always hard to get used to bathroom for children. The bathroom is cuter with help of Ducky bathroom set which are consist of toilet, washbasin and mirror that the perfect complement to children bathroom and there are no sharp corners but soft and organic forms. Ducky project is especially designed for children to make their bathroom colorful and joy. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: They shaped their design that looks like a duck which is very cute and lovely animal that every child loves it in order to give toilet habits to children and prevent fear to go to bathroom. There is a space on front of toilet lid thus it is easier for children to open the lid. Children who have different sizes can easily see themself in the duck and egg shaped mirrors also the mirrors are symbolized growth period of children. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started and finished between June 2015- February 2016 in Zonguldak, Turkey. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Washbasin and toilet is made from ceramic material. Plaster molding is the production technique. Washbasin's feet are made from acrylic. Mirrors are made from acrylic rather than glass to prevent damages. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Wasbasin: 520 x 400 x 630 mm Toilet: 300 x 550 x 750 mm Mirors: 545 x 505 x 7 mm (Duck) 210 x 310 x 7 mm (Eggs) TAGS: Washbasin, Toilet, Duck, Child, Cute, Sweet, Beak, Quack quack, Children Bathroom RESEARCH ABSTRACT: There is an intensive research regarding to duck anatomy, photos, how children interact with them, children's heights in the age when children begin to use the bathroom also what kind of materials could be used in design for safety for children. CHALLENGE: Production process is simplified thanks to several plaster molding parts. The project is designed for children so security is the most important. Thus, the washbasin is fixed to floor also fixed to wall to prevent possible damages. Ducky feet are fixed to floor too. Glazing over the eyes on the toilet cistern is quite difficult on slope surfaces but it can be solved by a template that made of silicon. In addition, stickers can be applied to the eyes besides the glazing process. Furthermore, there is a space on front of toilet lid thus it is easier for children to open the lid.
