| DESIGN NAME: vapour PRIMARY FUNCTION: Vapour Bar Exchange INSPIRATION: the entire area was inspired from a live trading room wherein you would have a large room where people would feel as if they are traders and see live fluctuating rates in the entire restaurant. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: vapour bar exchange, works on variable pricing of all products as per the demand, a high demand beer will become expensive and a low demand beer will become cheaper. the entire design revolves around the culture of a stock trading room. open lively spaces with larger group seating areas have been provided along with screens that provide live fluctuating rates for the beers on sale. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Upon entering, the first look that the guest gets is of the bar counter. Further inside, we walk into a large central space with the view towards the semi-open balcony outdoor. The central space is surrounded by the cozy sofa sitting corners which accommodate the larger groups. The outdoor area with garden furniture and openable louvered shutters gives the feel of a verandah. The entire space is lined with screens which actively display the altering prices of the drinks based on the purchases. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This place was built in an existing floor of the commercial complex. The existing floor and ceiling was maintained as it is, with addition of an elevated wooden floor in one place and addition of wooden beading along the existing ceiling coves. The outer walls of the space are made in light-weight concrete blocks with highlighting wooden beading at lintel level across the space. Green colored leatherite furniture adds interest in the space and also lends the space a look of an English bar. Patterned tiles and green planters complete the verandah look of the semi-outdoor balcony. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The space reminds the guests of an English bar as the entire place is made of wood along with concrete blocks that balance out the warmth of the wood. The sitting plan has comfortable sofa seats on the sides with stand alone tables in the central area. The graffiti on the walls are inspired by the imagery of bull, bear and digits associated with the stock market. TAGS: vapour, brewery, gurgaon, bar, india, craft beer, sector 29, bar exchange RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The idea about this project was to create a lively space to recreate the feel of a trading stock exchange in the setting of a bar. We studied about a typical bar setting and introduced elements from a stock exchange in terms of graphics and props to amalgamate both the concepts into one. CHALLENGE: To renovate an existing space with the desired results of a bar was the most challenging part since we were not keen in changing the existing floor and ceiling. Wood, concrete blocks and props were the only elements used to create the perfect look. Another important criteria was to make a space that caters to the foot fall of the locality, which is young and modern corporates. We have achieved the same with a lively space and unique concept of stock exchange.
