| DESIGN NAME: Fanclastic PRIMARY FUNCTION: Construction set INSPIRATION: The creation of the “Fanclastic” design owes to the creator’s desire to build construction set details which connect in all directions as opposed to the "Lego" details. The main sources of inspiration are cubic lattice, math and geometry. Research and technology background is fully mathematical. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: “Fanclastic” is an educational construction set designed for children and adults to play with. Each detail of the construction set has three unique types of connections which allow to build massive, volume, tall, mobile, tridimensional objects and cubic lattice like models. They also allow to complete models from any side. Bright colors and ribbed surface of the details attract attention, improve motor skills, stimulate brain work. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Details of “Fanclastic” are used in kits for children and in puzzles. Unlike “Lego” they connect in three different directions: “level on level”, “front edge on level” and “front edge on front edge”. That allows to build volume, massive, tridimensional objects and complete them from any side. Details are big and light and connect very tightly. Moreover, special fixing details allows to make almost undestroyable objects. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2013 in Moscow, Russia. The construction set Fanclastic itself was lauched on the market on October, 1, 2015. The project still lasts and develops. Fanclastic participated in several exibitions and workshops, such as: Mir Detstva 2015, Constructors city, Children exposition “Eremeyka”, VDNKH Children exposition “Sportland”, Vorobievy Gory “Play and Toy week”, Science festival 2015, Exhibitions in Nurnberg, Germany. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Each detail of the construction set is produced in a press mold machine from nonpolluting plastic ABS free of phthalate. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: There are 12 kinds of details, each has its own measures. The measures of the smallest detail are 1 x 1 x 1,5 cm, the measures of the biggest one are 2 x 10 x 1,5 cm. The product comes in triangular and rectangular cardboard and plastic package. Their sizes depends on quantity of the details inside. The measures of the biggest package are 69 x 42 x 43 cm, the measures of the smallest package are 29 x 25 x 16 cm. The main obstacles were: calculation of the measures of the details and the connection parts, the creation of the proper press molds and organization of the production. Nowadays the plant manufactures flexible packaging. “Fanclastic” project was initiated in 2013 by Dmitriy Sokolov, financial director and the creator of the construction set. In October, 2015 “Fanclastic” has officially come to market. |
