| DESIGN NAME: Turturem PRIMARY FUNCTION: Outdoor Table INSPIRATION: Turturem is Latin for turtle, like a shell that is just as integral and dependent on the legs as the legs are with the shell. The inspiration for the Turturem stems from a simplistic procedure of construction and assembly. The goal was to create a whole and beautiful table with the least amount of unique parts, including fasteners. This in turn created an ease of assembly. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Turturem is a table for exterior use. There are no fasteners, only interlocking connections that allow a slight movement in changing environmental conditions. One table leg, as one molded piece, is both the vertical and horizontal structure. Each identical leg leans and interlocks with the next to form a self standing frame. The bent mesh top snaps around the frame to unify the legs. The legs are made of molded recycled plastic and the top is anodized aluminum which is 100% recyclable. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: From a manufacturing perspective, the Turturem table has two unique parts, the leg and the top, with no fasteners or adhesives. The interlocking connections and lack of adhesives make it ideal for outdoor use because the connections have the ability to move and fluctuate with changing weather conditions. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: I have built a rough prototype of the legs to ensure the self standing nature and stability of the frame in plywood. It works as intended and stable as well as easy to assembly. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Turturem table is 42"x 42" x 14"h. The legs will be molded recycled plastic or composite plastic and the top is a perforated aluminum bent to the specifications. This model can also be applied to other table sizes, the eating table or side table with a variety of color options.
