| DESIGN NAME: Mementic PRIMARY FUNCTION: Connected Pot INSPIRATION: My main inspiration was the remarkable memories I have had in my grandmothers kitchen. The pleasant time I had experienced with her in her home and her kitchen, the smells and a lot of delicious foods I tried with my loved ones. Without a doubt cooking and eating are some of the most tangible and purest experiences attached to memories in people modern lives. From my point of view, cooking is a journey, a journey over time and location and it can be accompanied with our loved ones. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Besides cooking food, MeMeNtiC connects people who are interested to cook together. For example connects the user to the famous chef in different country to learn how to cook a special dish or connect to a loved one for recreating a dish that they had in childhood MEMENTIC can transfer all the data while cooking and guide user through cooking process by visual timeline on the body. Weight, volume and quality of food, can be transferred between connected pots. MeMeNtiC can upload, download and share foods by smart devices OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The big circle on the top creates an emotional interaction between user and the device. Based on Donald Norman theory, the big circle on the top reacts as a signifier. This signifier is lightened by white light when the connected pan-pot is in the standby mode and it this situation all the interactive information will display on the lid of the pot-pan. The white light turns to the blue color when the food inside has not been cooked yet and gently turns to orange-red color to show that the food is ready. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: There is a ring shape sensor on the bottom of the pot, which capture all the information and transfer it to other pots. Beside the interface on the top of the body, which illustrates the visual timeline and guide the user through the cooking process, there is a light indicator inside the pot for illustrating the volume of the liquid that user needs to put inside the pot. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Diameter 26 cm, Large Handle 7.5 cm, Small handle 5 cm, Height without lid 14 cm, Height with lid 21.5 cm TAGS: Future kitchen, fun foodies, Cooking, Connected pot, Socializing, Memories, Five senses, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Among Gen Y, 88 percent are interested in trying new food and according to my survey of 100 people, 74 of them want to explore new experiences in the kitchen. For them, food is a fun high touch part of their high tech world. Other interesting finding from the survey was their reason for cooking at home and this important reason is they enjoy cooking. Also most human activities will come through digital media in the future, but cooking and eating will still remain pure and real in the future. CHALLENGE: The hardest part was recognizing the users desire and expectations and translating them to the actual design.
