DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Sea

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Chaise-Longue

INSPIRATION:
My attend to the design of pieces of furniture got shot of any practical nor asthetic aim where object's function is subdued to the typical form. Form intended as substance and not as decorative appearance.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The SEA Chaise-Lonugue (Vessel Collection) is the maximum expression of a design based on the philosophy of dematerialisation. Form - massive and assembled with bolts and screws that have been left visible - is the leading player. It is composed of tubular metal, wooden panels that bolted together with visible joint and cushion in cotton. All the structure is completely disassembled and each element that composes it is identifiable and traceable to its original state.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project of the "Vessel Collection" began in April 2006 at the Fuori Salone in Milan with the show at the Gallery Antonio Battaglia; developing the design concept through the implementation of other elements of arredo .The main events are: Fuori Salone (Milan) in April 2006, Galleria Antonio Battaglia; International furnishing show - Imm Cologne - Cologne in January 2008; Oval Lingotto (Turin) - XXIII World Congress of Architecture Architektonika - July 2008; Straf Hotel (Milan) Fuori Salone April 2009; City preview, Fabbrica del Vapore (Milan) Fuori Salone April 2011

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Bed main structure is built with varnished square or cylindrical metal tubings. Wood - panels 100% natural bees - wax finish.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Painted iron frame. In pure galvanized iron in the OUT-DOOR collection. Shelves in wood strips in natural oak, mahogany, and wenge. Marine plywood in the OUT-DOOR collection. Pillows in brown cotton. In white acrylic fiber in the OUT-DOOR collection. Frame colors: brick red, dove gray, and anthracite. Dimensions: L 185 W 75 H 45

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
My goal is to create a product "that go beyond" merely practical and aesthetic goals in favor of an appreciation of a seamless plastic art. The function of this furniture is not the only factor used to determine its characteristics and looks. The design of this products is simple, and the blueprints we create are in essence the ultimate expression of the philosophy of dematerialization). Then of simple design and fully recyclable; It is designed in such a way that its parts are clearly identifiable and easy to dismantle (All parts can be dismantled). The weight, which is a part of the substance of the object, is the weight of the structure not more nor less.

CHALLENGE:
Every elements that make up this product are easily found on the market. Purpose it was precisely to create a design using structural elements of sections (metal structures, bullonistica) commercial, so as the panels that make up the structure.
