Dental chair for children

INSPIRATION:
Almost all people have fear in a visit to the dentist perhaps negative experiences endured in the past, the more you need to consider the fear that the children can try that are preparing to live the first few visits. With this in mind the idea of designing a dental unit for children with elements capable of capturing their attention thus making him forget the fear and anxiety due to the visit.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The design of this dental unit is different from other products on the market because it develops by taking better account of the needs of the end user: the child. In addition to dental unit the practical needs of the dentist, this meeting is aimed to emotionally engage the patient who must face his fears for the thought of the inevitable pain that will deal with. The video, the operating light, the mirror and the basin for rinsing all have a form that characterizes them in a positive way in order to capture the attention of the child.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The use of the meeting must be guided by the dentist who first knows the perfect operation for the job that going to carry. In this case, however, the interaction between the patient and the dental unit is very evident by the change that is was made to each element which constitutes this product. The video is a first object that helps to distract the patient in a pleasant especially if it is a child, about his size and the position in which it was placed; the dentist console that is the source of pain for the patient has been designed with a harmonious shape and totally resealable itself not to create anxiety that occurs with the immediate view of the various medical instruments; operating light, as well as performing its usual function , through the form which is reminiscent of a shooting star creates light effects that simulate a starry sky, a source of tranquility and serenity; even the mirror and the basin for rinsing were studied in order to interact in a playful manner with the patient who is the only user; the ergonomic chair is the central element of the dental unit around which they relate all the other components together.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The first phase of the research was the historical one (the first chair designed for utilizatin of the dental field made its first appearance in 1832) to understand the evolution of form and technique that this object has had over time. Another crucial phase of research was carried out with the technicians who are responsible for maintenance of this product in order to avoid new elements not suitable for the proper functioning of the unit. The sales representatives have also helped me to understand the current aesthetic trends that should not be underestimated for the success of the sale of this product, which, being very expensive for the dentist must satisfy this aspect.

CHALLENGE:
The challenge has been to create my own idea I had of this product failing to respect the technological constraints that are many. To develop the idea of a meeting that took greater account of the needs of the end user is very important to know in depth the human relationship that is created between patient and doctor. A delicate relationship that is adjusted by the trust acquired over time.
