DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Roly Poly" Contentment "

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Roly Poly, movable wooden toys,

INSPIRATION:
My inspiration came from the nature and my feelings of surrounding world. "Let us play with the Rainbow, what does the cloud look like? Could you feel that? Let’s catch it.Take a look at the sea, shaking the waves, move the stone, touch the sand etc. What do they look like in your mind? How do you feel that?"

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
How to have a rainbow? How to hug a summer wind? I am always touched by some subtle things and feel very satisfied and happy. How to store and how to own? Enough is as good as a feast. I would like to shape the different kinds of materials in a simple and funny way. Let children play with them to recognize the physical world, stimulate their imagination and help them understand their surrounding environment.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
-

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
Start from January 2012 to March 2012 , University of the Arts London, Camberwell College of Arts, 3D resource Center

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Fine Arts and Art Installation Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Ash, Meranti, Cotton, Plastic, Elastic , Stone, Fabric

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Size:80*80*110 mm the most difficult making parts is how to put the weight in the bottom of each tumbler, let them can exactly work as Tumbler toys and turning around, also never pulling down. Besides, the inner structure of each ball shape is also hard to make, as I have to consider how the top part and bottom part match together very well. It is good to find the right materials for linking each other. Children and adults can open and shut freely but also safe to play
