| DESIGN NAME: NISSAN Calendar 2013 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Calendar INSPIRATION: An artist and Nissan and graphic and digital collaboration produce surprise. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: ・Every year Nissan produces a calendar under the theme of its brand tagline “Excitement unlike any other”. The year 2013 version is filled with eye-opening and unique ideas and images as the result of collaboration with a dance-painting artist “ SAORI KANDA”. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: ・This calendar is accompanied by special contents provided through AR application. Users download and install the AR application to a smart phone or tablet PC and then bring the device close to the calendar’s cover page to view the intriguing behind-the-scene video that films the dance-painting artist in motion of painting the backdrop of Nissan vehicles. If the device is brought closer to monthly calendar pages, for each month users can see the AR video contents that films SAORI KANDA’s interview and narratives about her thoughts and feelings about the month’s artwork. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: ・All the images in the calendar are the works of SAORI KANDA the dance-painting artist. She embodied her inspiration given by Nissan vehicle in her paintings which were directly drawn on a horizont curtain placed in the studio. The combination of “vehicle” and “horizont curtain” as well as “her” who is in the middle of painting are photographed, which makes a fantastic art piece. The 2013 calendar contains thirteen pieces of such work. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The AR application used in the calendar is available on App Store and Google play only in Japan, therefore it can’t be downloaded in Italy or others.
