| DESIGN NAME: The Cube PRIMARY FUNCTION: Transport Packaging INSPIRATION: I was inspired by Guy Kawasaki to think different, never believe what you are told, until you personally prove it right or wrong. For the last 50 years, the packaging Industry has been controlled by the Big Corrugated Paper Companies. No more, we are changing the industry, changing the equation. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Our signature product The Cube is an Open Architecture Crating System that is a Patented disruptive technology within the packaging industry; It is the only market solution designed to go from product loading at the end of a manufacturers production line, onto a delivery truck, and straight to the retailer sales floor or distributors of many different industries as well, eliminating layers of costs. It was the first design to meet Environmental, ISTA Testing directives from Walmart. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Cube allows the manufacturer to control the display and point of sale message while the retailer cuts labor costs because there is no more unpacking and display construction. Some of the advantages of The Cube within a retail market are: Retailer Preference; Improved Visibility; Product Accesibility; Improved turnover per square foot of selling space; Sales Product Increase because it present the product attractively and with supporting sales messages. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Cube is a Self Sustaining Patented Packaging System made of a special engineered 100% Paperboard Lamination with a combination layers of Recycled and Virgin Fibers. Environmentally Friendly (Compostable, Biodegradable, Recyclable). Why is so different from corner angle protectors? First: We use a super strong glue with a special humidity resistance formulation Second: Special paperboard; crossed fibers between layers Third: The components are assembled in a way that allows them to work like one. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Cube is a flexible and versatile packaging system; all dimensions can be adjusted to comply with customers needs. Standard measure: 1016 mm x 1219 mm adjustable height from 1016 mm to 2160 mm. High Load Compression Resistance. Static Load: 1,600 Kgs. (3,500 Lbs.) Dynamic Load, 600 Kgs. (1,350 Lbs.) It can be use within humid-freeze supply chain environments. TAGS: Transport Packaging, Allows Double Stacking, Open Architecture, Innovative Cube Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research is based on Walmart's request to create a more efficient Supply Chain. We were invited among other 80 companies worldwide to attend a meeting in 2004; they wanted to talk directly to packaging suppliers. We were the first to return with a solution, The Cube. There are more than 24 worldwide Patents within this unique packaging system. It went through different testing procedures and real tests preformed by third parties and clients, such as ISTA, Procter and Gamble, among others. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was to comply by been: Sustainable, Reusable, Compostable, Recyclable and Cost effective. The external factor is that we are competing against a 896 billion dollar monopolize business that is well positioned in the market. In our perspective everybody loves innovation but just a few wants to start using it, so we need first adopters; changing the way of how things had been done in the past 50 years and the way of viewing the packaging industry takes time and resources.
