FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
GHN: I was major in Korean Language back in college, so I didn't really have any kind of formal training in graphic design.
FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
GHN: Currently I'm a freelancer.
FS: What is "design" for you?
GHN: To design is to translate - you translate a set of certain criteria to solutions.
FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
GHN: Brand identity and packaging
FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
GHN: The branding work for Innocent Drinks - because it's super creative and witty
FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
GHN: A logo
FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
GHN: My favorite material is paper.
FS: When do you feel the most creative?
GHN: Usually after 11 p.m
FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
GHN: The ideation phase.
FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
GHN: Self-doubt, frustration, excitement, proud - it's a mixture of everything.
FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
GHN: Excitement
FS: What makes a design successful?
GHN: Both client and the designer are happy, I think. And of course, it has to be well-received by customers.
FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
GHN: Does it answer the brief?
